Port Alfred is a year-round paradise with endless beaches, warm weather outstanding SCUBA diving and 23 km of navigable river to explore. Half way between Port Elizabeth and East London, the region offers malaria-free game viewing, excellent birding and ocean and river angling.

                                                                        Vaal River
A message from Old Willow No7 Houseboat Charters: Since our first boat plopped into the Vaal river in October 2005, Old Willow No7 Houseboat Charters has grown nicely. Our latest voyage is a partnership that we have formed with our Holiday Houseboats in Knysna and in Port Alfred.

We are marketing and growing our respective businesses under a Lightleys banner (although we retain our Old Willow identity) and believe that only good things can come from this arrangement. Together we plan to wave the houseboat flag high all over South Africa!

                                                                     Swaziland
Just south of Piggs Peak is a scenic loop that leads to Maguga Dam. With a capacity of 332 million cubic meters of water and a wall height of 115 meters, Maguga is the highest dam in the region. Since it was opened by His Majesty King Mswati III in 2002 a diversity of tourism attractions have been developed here, with investors taking advantage of the unique and truly beautiful part of rural Swaziland.Maguga Dam is well known for its excellent fishing opportunities and is currently holding the national bass record.
This volume of water sits at the bottom of the Komati basin and is nestled amongst the famous Swaziland mountain region, which offers excellent protection against the elements.
This protection contributes to the very healthy bird population of this area and will keep any keen bird watcher busy for days. Some small game can also be viewed from the comfort and luxury of the house boat.

Swaziland is a pleasant three hour drive from Johannesburg in South Africa, and once you cross the border you will experience this friendly nation, with all its beauty and hospitality.
