Fishing on the Rivers
The Upper Zambezi and Kasai Channel has some of the best river fishing in the world. The targeted species are Tigerfish, Bream and Catfish.

Tigerfish is the meanest African freshwater species and one of the most explosive freshwater game fish in the world. It has a reputation of being one of the hardest fighting and most difficult fish to boat. These river fish can grow up to 10kg(22lbs) in our stretch of water. All techniques can be used to catch them.

The catfish species are strong gutsy fighters that can grow up to 25kg(55lbs).
The Bream species closely resemble the form and behaviour of Largemouth Bass and can be fished for using similar techniques and tackle. These are the African bass. The bream species average about 1.5 – 2 kg(3-5lbs) but can grow up to 4kg(8.8lbs).

The Tigerfish, Bream and Catfish respond to fluctuations in water level throughout the year and follow systematic patterns of movement every season.
These patterns help predict and pinpoint the areas that fishing will be at its best at certain times of the year. The distance between a good spot currently and another 4 months later can be as much as 70 kilometers. Nguni was built with this in mind, being able to take you to source, enabling the angler more quality fishing time, which equates to more quality fish.
It is important to know, that not all year is good for certain styles of fishing techniques, although, fish can be caught all year.

Unbelievable way to catch tigers is on the drift.The mayhem that develops when a school comes through and all the lines on the boat are running is absolute carnage. The wet season is not rain all day and basically it is a down pour for around an hour a day and then it is calm again.

The river is big and bustling over this period. The water is very high and the opportunity to fish the rapids is available. The flyfishing is on occasion rewarding as the frenzies are occuring in isolated places.

The best fly fishing we experience all year. The top water frenzies are adrenalin pumping to cast into. The waterbird activity is prolific. Everything is starting to feed after the 4months of flooding that has been present. Fish are all over the place.The Nguni puts you on the money, everytime.

The biggest tigers are landed in this period. It is mainly trolling that brings these results however all other styles can be used effectively.The largest variety of fish are caught during this period and the river is beautiful with its white sandbanks. It is a defineable river with fishable features.
